What phone-holder suits the CX-models the best?
Any ‘creative solutions’ (à la DaveW. )

An ash box?

I have a magnetic holder - you put a metal disc on the back of the phone or phone case and it attaches to the magnet which is stuck on to the dash - works very well - has a strong enough “bond” but comes away easily. I think it was about €10 on fleabay!

What phone as this may benefit/impede wireless charging?

The newer Apple units have a mag mount ring built in which also improves charge and mount but is (as always) Apple only. If you fit a different magnetic based mount it can interfere with any chance of wireless charging.

For my earlier phones (no wireless charging) I wanted to use them as SatNav and legally mount them so I did the same as Robbie and used a small Mag mount and a USB charge cable. I put on a cheap case to give a bit more protection in case in fell in the car. I put the sticky metal plate near the top on the case to avoid long term trouble with the phone. I put the mag bump on the windscreen just high enough to allow it to hang over the wood bar on the aero.

If you have a phone with Qi wireless charging or the Apple mag mount/charge (X onwards inc XR) stuff then you need to ask if you want to mount it or mount and charge it as well before selection.

Hi, I print this little ball support compatible with a lot of magnetic support.
Goal: avoid to make visible holes !
Works well so far.

If it’s helpful… the first phone holder I put in my Plus Four was a rigid suction cup version, which I attached under the dash between the vents. It worked brilliantly well for me over the summer - see pics -





… however unfortunately when the winter arrived, the fact the phone was right in front of the vents, meant that the phone overheated!…
.. so I’m now on to version 2 - similar concept - bought on Amazon - just with a longer flexible arm that places the phone away from the vents. See pics.





Hopefully this will work better for cold weather motoring..!

There are also some longer ones which screw to the seat runner mount and come up to the side of the wheel in case they are helpful. Very nice work.

Nice work there…couldn’t see if you’ve actually drilled into the underside of the dash (with my back, I’d need an ambulance on standby for those angles!) so shall look at Alistair’s suggestion as an alternative as well…
