Just in case I haven't warned everyone about this....

My car had the non dipstick oil tank cap & in short the rubber bit inside the cap fell out into the oil tank & blocked the pipe that the oil should have gone down into the engine.

This resulted in a major engine rebuild with extremely difficult to locate parts.

If you have that type of cap you need to check your rubber bit is still in the cap & not the tank & either way get rid of the feckin' thing !

All is eventually well that ends well, albeit expensively

I know exactly how you feel Richard - following my Roadster engine ingesting a rogue bolt a few years back

Twenty two weeks and £8K rebuild - all OK since then.

The pain will ease - but leaves a scar!

I had to have a new S&S engine ($10,000) after the sump plug fell out causing loss of oil at high speed resulting in instant catastrophic failure, my insurance company covered the cost of the engine.

David, please could you share what happened, is there a watch point other Roadster owners should look out for ?

Did your insurance company inquire where you had the oil changed last and who did it?

There's quite a long thread on it here somewhere Jon, happened a few years ago.
