Awful but potentially brilliant program, because of the dreadful lack of knowledge of some of those featured in the show including the woman at the top of the tree simply trying to get on tv but who shouldn’t be let anywhere near the museums principle piece.
There are some really knowledgeable people featured including ex BA Concorde licensed engineers and Julian their driver who save the show imho.
Even low level & basic, they talked about a flying officer’s uniform from 1943 which was quite clearly an RAF sergeants uniform but the lack of knowledge is on display everywhere & it puts Brooklands in a bad light.
Safety is another issue with both aircraft movements and propellor running and clearly no technical training whatsoever but for an interest in cars & aeroplanes.
Being a Brooklands Member, I like many cringe watching it & find my toes curling but then breath out during the good bits. I guess it’s a horror!

There have been one or two good moments - the Napier Railton and the Delahaye being fired up were high points - but on the whole, it has been a desperately tedious experience. I thought at the time that pushing the Jordan across the car park was as bad as it could get but when a subsequent programme did the same thing with one of the 'planes and an old mortar shell I had to reach for the FFWD button. Like others, I have actually failed to stay awake through some episodes.
I'm afraid I have to agree that it hasn't shown Brooklands in the best light. I still have the last one to watch but I'm not in a hurry. A great shame.

Some of the potential moving / lifting operations make you cringe a bit, like the slinging of the bomb casing they moved, I suspect a surprise visit from the local HSE officer will happen soon

I agree with your highlights it was the same for me, I appreciated you flagging it up as it has inspired me to want to visit the place sometime when we are over that side of the country so thank you.

It's watchable. Just a bunch of old blokes playing around with full sized toys.
Some bits are tedious, and documentaries never get everything right, if you ever watch anything you know about!!!
If Brooklands was at the end of our road I reckon I'd be down there drinking tea, and messing with stuff.
I watched the young guy with the Triumph saloon, and that was quite tedious.
On the matter of Napier....I just read the profile of the Napier 40/50, written in the late sixties, and it's an interesting story of car building.
The six cylinder engine was put together quite quickly....... 4.0 litres, and on test it showed a serious vibration which was at odds with the Napier expectation of superb engine building.
They concluded that the rear cylinder had insufficient crankcase bracing, and to fix this problem they fitted a single dished piston into number six, to reduce the compression ratio, and this fixed the vibration. Many years later someone restored one of these engines, and fitted six identical pistons, then couldn't eliminate the harshness and vibration, until told by someone in the know what was needed.

Yes, I think they remembered to put the battery in this series much improved The Gold Star tribute for the rebuilder was a nice touch.
