I am working on a list of things that may be responsible for my rough idle. Bad, gas, fuel pressure. Working on the first: I am going to drain the gas. Is the easiest way to snake a tube past filler cap into passenger tank? Or do I have to take out fuel pump to access?

If bad fuel you may be able to jazz it up with an octane booster and/or a fill with higher octane petrol. If draining the tank get a fuel syphon & go in via the filler first only then take out the pump. Fuel pressure testers a quite cheap, I got one of these not great quality or robust but only used once & much cheaper than a visit to a garage.

thanks Tim! I invested in a hand pump siphon and nice 5 gallon tank to drain. I have a fuel pressure gauge. But I also have emil's fuel system with regulator so I am thinking the gauge on that is slightly over-reading. I will slightly increase the pressure to see if it evens out the idle. But first, new plugs, new high octane gas.

Due to the crossover tube, just draining one side will drain both tanks until very little fuel is left in either. That small residual amount will be inconsequential if you then put in several gallons of fresh fuel.
