Latest update.

Due to Storm Barra I decided to delay fitting, I didn't fancy a 5 hrs round trip on Motorways in this weather. They are busy with work so the earliest opportunity is mid Jan. So, weather permitting, it will go ahead them.

Well, eventually after another delay for a new rear wing I made it down and got it fitted.

There are a few options for the Control Pad, I opted for a pad mounted on the dash below the Start button.



The computer for the unit is fitted nicely into the fuse box on top of the BCU and ECU.



An additional sensor was required for the Clutch so that the cruise control is paused when the clutch is operated. As you can see a bracket had to be attached to mount it.



Operation is just like all normal cruise controls. I used it extensively on the drive back north and it works as it should.

It's not as sophisticated as OEM units I have experience of. I can feel the car being kept at the selected speed, a bit of acceleration then backing off on a regular cycle which is more noticeable on inclines, which makes sense as the car will slow down faster and need more acceleration.

The whole thing took over 5hrs to install and cost £660 from http://www.motormods.co.uk/ who I have no association with. The installer said adjustment of the unit was tricky because the accelerator is a hair trigger.

Very impressive.

Interesting, I wonder if you have the only Trad with cruise control

I had a cruise control system on my 94 Plus 8 which was an elec/mech system. It worked very well but the very slight lag in activation was strange at first compared to a modern vehicle system, and the accelerator pedal positioning itself from under your foot when the system is activated.

Thanks for posting this, I was toying with the idea myself a whole ago as I have become so accustomed to it on my daily driver I thought it might be nice to have on the Morgan. I gave up looking because I couldn't find a supplier/fitter and worried any solution might look odd. You have solved all those in one!

Hi all,

A quick update.

Only used it once since having it fitted, went on motorways to/from Ledgerwood for it's MOT. Have found no issues with it so far, the acceleration/slow cycle feels less in 4th than 5th gear and I think if I make sure the throttle pedal is steady before setting the speed it's more stable but that might be in my head.

Will post updates as I use it but the weather is not good at the moment.
