Nothing to be seen here last night, nor across most of Scotland according to the Glendale app. I think the moon is too bright at the moment and it was cloudy here last night. ![[Linked Image]](https://www.tm-img.com/images/2022/03/15/Screenshot_20220315-163441__01.jpg)

Same here .... was a very bright night last night even though the moon is a good way from full .... again, I think this says more about the difference between what shows up on camera and 'eyeball' sightings.

AN M-FLARE A DAY KEEPS THE SHORTWAVES AWAY: Sunspot AR2965 is crackling with M-class solar flares.
Facing Earth, the sunspot has been producing such a flare about once a day for the past week. Each explosion briefly disrupted short-wave radio communications on the dayside of our planet. Remarkably, none of the flares has hurled a CME into space. No problem. This series of radio blackouts shows that the sun can affect Earth even without a CME.

RIPPLES FROM A NEARBY CME: NOAA's DSCOVR spacecraft may have detected a CME passing close to Earth today, March 20th. The evidence consists of some ripples of magnetism and an uptick in solar wind density. This is not enough to cause a geomagnetic storm, but Arctic auroras are definitely possible.

CO-ROTATING INTERACTION REGION: Geomagnetic storms (G1-class) are possible on April 29th when a co-rotating interaction region (CIR) is expected to hit Earth's magnetic field. CIRs are transition zones between fast- and slow-moving solar wind streams. They contain shock waves and compressed magnetic fields that do a good job sparking auroras.

GEOMAGNETIC STORM WATCH: A solar wind stream is approaching Earth, and it could spark a G1 Class geomagnetic storm when it arrives on Sept. 30th or Oct. 1st. The gaseous material is flowing from a double equatorial hole in the sun's atmosphere.
