Funnily enough I saw those this morning. Completely different shape to the ones on my '74 4/4. Lots of changes in the intervening 48 years! John at H of E selling off some old stock

So nothing's staightforward, right ? Just as I was admiring my nice straight sidescreen/pillar seals, I realised another major issue. The inner flap on the hood is neatly cut and trimmed, but I'm convinced that whoever was on sewing duties the day my hood was made, overlooked the teensy issue of the seals interfering with the flap, and pushing-out the tops of the sidescreens. Oh b*gger ! (I can't be alone in experiencing this.....)

Have a look at the photos of my hood (sorry for the low light levels in the garage), and the MUCH better stills from the excellent Williams and Allon-White "How to" videos. The Williams one in particular is how I'm convinced mine should be, namely over an inch shorter lengthwise at the front. BUT before I do any expensive hacking at the mohair with a craft knife (and on the basis that the rubber trims are soooo much less expensive), can anyone please just confirm the correct shape and fit ??? Thanks !

Peter, can't help with your issue I'm afraid (far too modern!) but may have come across a possible solution to my problem.

When I had the doors off I replaced the hinge pins which were a little slack. This means the door section furthest from the hinges will be higher and therefore the leading edge of the side screen is closer to the windscreen frame (i.e the door "drop" has been removed). I recon that if i put a small spacer under the top hinge (or let in the bottom hinge) it will bring the leading edge of the side screen away from the windscreen frame. Looking at the geometry a 1mm spacer will give about 3mm movement at the top of the side screen. Obviously it will affect the fit against the hood and the door catch will probably need adjusting. But easy enough to test out.

Thanks for the suggestion, I had saggy doors on most of my TVRs and I'm no stranger to replacing/shimming hinges ! (although fibreglass was easier to work with).
However no amount of shimming/spacing will alter the "wrong" shape/position of that darned piece of hood flap material. I can feel an uncontrollable urge coming on, to go on the rampage with my craft knife to restyle the end of the flap to the shape on the 2020 car in the Williams video (full video at https://youtu.be/vERmlcEDqPM).

Just to complete the story. I have wedged both top hinges now and the fit of the side screen rubbers is now ok with no fouling of the windscreen frame. I used a piece of 0.8mm aluminium on the drivers door and a thin piece of plastic about 0.35mm thick for the passenger door. I had to move the door catches down slightly but the main problem was the door catching slightly on the B pillar on the passenger side. I had to shave off 1.5mm from the back end of the door above the catch on the passenger side. So no need to get the Stanley knife out!

As an aside, I bought some leather offcuts from the Morgan factory during our visit there last year. I've stitched up some leather bonnet corners which match the bonnet strap. It's nice to know that somewhere in the world there is a Morgan that has the rest of the hide covering it's interior!

You did well. Trial and error and lot of patience. And as you say, brothers (or sisters) in arms re the leather.
