When I was in my early 20s the company I worked for had a business conference in Canberra. After dinner a we went to a small discotech in one of the suburbs. It was at the time of illuminated dance floors. There was a most spectacular blond wearing tight silver hotpants dancing with a weedy fairly nondescript guy and my companions were quite struck by her. When she returned to her table my companions egged my on to go and ask her for a dance. I went to the table and asked if she would like to dance with me. She looked at her companions and then in a bass, rough, voice said "Why not" and stood up. I thought to myself to stay with the game. And I must say that "she" was a much better dancer than I was. Of course my companions whistled and called out. At the end of the bracket, which was the last of the evening, I thanked her and returned to finish my drink before leaving. I held back a little and chatted with the bouncer who told me that they were a group from "Les Girls" who were in Canberra for a show. In the street one of my companions after hearing one of the group, a brunette, talk was astonished and said "That girl is a guy!".
