Not a Trike specific problem but last year I fitted flashing indicators to my old F-Type with a single 'pilot light' on the dash, They worked well and I was pleased with result. Recently a fault has developed in that when I indicate left (only) although the indicators work correctly, the pilot flashes once only. I have checked all the connections and bought a new flasher relay (which doesn't work at all!). but am I not right in thinking that if the relay was at fault it would affect both directions. Any ideas?

Usually yes the single electro-mechanical flasher relay is put in the left or right indictator circuit as selected. Normally you would have a three pin flasher relay with dedicated pilot terminal. See below for typical flasher wiring diagram for such. ![[Linked Image]](https://i.imgur.com/82dp2ii.jpeg) As you can see the pilot light is fed by P terminal independent of selected flasher direction. You could nevertheless try swapping bulbs left to right to see if they draw differing current and note if fault switches sides. The other possibility is a two contact relay being used which would require diodes to common pilot light, one of which may be faulty. More info on flasher needed.

Richard, that is a nice diagram for those who might want to bypass the steering column mounted stalk flasher on the Post 2012 m3w with a toggle switch.

Yes it's borrowed from a Series 2 Land Rover forum. They employ a column mounted self cancelling indicator selector made by Tex Magna with integrated warning light. Good to illustrate the wiring and circuit position of flasher relay though.

Thanks Richard for the very clear diagram (I too used to have a SWB, L/R 2a!) The wiring is correct and worked well for many months. I was hoping that somebody might suggest what suddenly caused the malfunction and how to cure it.
