I think there's a deal to be done if you want one, especially as a MY23 is in the pipeline making even the '22 cars old spec

Yes I suspect you are right as some of those cars are 2020 models with the cardboard seats grin2

Surely it would be in the factory’s interest to retrofit comfort seats and realise £3M than have dead stock sitting around

As mentioned before, I raised my hand to say I was interested in a Plus Four and one would think a retailer would be keen to be more proactive to make it happen. Alas, I've not seen it. Perhaps the retailers don't mind sitting on them as they will eventually sell.

MY23 is a given, all OEMs switch over with the norm being CW22 but some are being pushed out by a month.

Or is it simply that the prices have reached a point where competition is stiff?

That is a rather unusual attitude for any point of sale to adopt, being cynical it suggests a cartel between all parties of lets hang on and shift the old stock first before taking any new orders.

Or maybe you are right they are entering a very competitive and competent market where customers expectations are far higher than the area they are well versed with, they all do that sir just won't wash.

I think you both bring up valid points. Perhaps it's a matter of initial buyers have bought and the order banks are drying up? I was told I could have a car built for delivery in June. Not a long lead time at all.

Fingers crossed the Super Three adds an injection to overall sales and interest in the brand along with whatever else might be coming.

Yes I think maybe the earlier adopters have gone through and the CX range has stalled a bit.

I think the Super 3 is going to be a belter with that engine, they certainly seem to have done a good amount of pre launch testing so fingers crossed it will surpass the M3W in customer satisfaction and be a real success story for MMC.

In reality Morgans are relatively expensive "toys" and there are plenty of alternatives available many of which are (differently) fun but can be more practical. We tour extensively with our M3W but last week our Boxster was a better choice for a 700 odd mile trip up north with plenty of top-down miles even on frosty mornings (we are obviously fortunate to have the choice).

Besides economic uncertainty, the outlook for i/c engined cars is uncertain and electric options proliferating...dropping £50+k on an i/c engined toy may be making people think twice and that is before they remember the "MostOwners RegardGremlinsAsNormal" reputation that the Plus Four/Six have not escaped..

maybe folk want their car taxed in March, to look a little younger, and have been happy to wait a few weeks? If those cars sitting around are something other than dealer specs, then they're likely actual customer cars.

Certainly you'd think in normal times that MMC would build cars at a constant rate, but the demand will be higher in spring & summer than in winter. So at the end of winter you'd expect some stock to be floating amongst dealers

Yes I know, "different times".....
But I couldn't resist sharing this (redacted copy) from 40 years ago, confirming the order for my first Morgan and a six-year delivery if I was lucky (which didn't work-out; I gave up in the end).
