Can anyone identify the below part. I'm guessing some kind of. Under tray, but looks a different shape to. The design I've seen made by Dave W. And the sides look too parallel. The curved end has a rivited in section. With the body colour, which appears broken off around the curved section.

Those holes look like they may align with over-rider brackets, and the front looks to be the same shape as the number plate box for Trads with, (or without) over-riders

I'm wondering if it is an undertray to improve rad air flow for a +8

I have a sort of undertray on my Plus8. It doubles as a numberplate holder then folds back to form an under tray that goes back past the bottom of the rad. It is fitted to the front over rider extensions from the chassis. It actually blocks air from getting to the bottom of the rad.
I’ve never been convinced that it helps airflow in any way. My fan has always been coming on preventing overheating. However the system seems very sensitive to reduced airflow when in slow traffic. I have tried a jury rigged duct to feed air to the bottom of the rad that seems blanked off by the whole design. Enough improvement to warrant more experiments. Morgan grills are not the best for providing good airflow to the rad.
Recent drives are showing a coolant gauge reading of 80deg with slower rise from cold and lesser increased reading when in slower traffic/ waiting at lights etc. This is the norm for winter. Summer, with higher ambient temperatures results in normal running between 85 and 90deg with faster warm up from cold and when in slow traffic/lots of stop start driving.
I’m going to retry extra ducting to reduce average coolant temp to reduce fan cut-ins or even remove the numberplate/undertray and stick numbers on the wing.
Just had a thought.......cut the undertray and fit a mesh replacement section. Protects rad from debris and lets air up.

I'm pretty sure it's as you Dave and John describe, and makes sense. I get that it might not help reduce rad temperatures, but feel the underneath of the Morgan is very exposed so will look to secure this in position. Thanks guys.

As Dave W and John suggested, it was part of the undertray and number plate box. Once glue is set I'll re-install it. Looks like it will protect quite a bit of the underside.

All fitted, and I'm really pleased with the result.the front end seems really protected.

An undertray seems to improve airflow through the cowl. I've had one on my Roadster for years now, and the bonus is it keeps road grime from collecting on the rack and crosshead.

The main thing for me is keeping the grime away from the rack and crosshead. It just looked so exposed beforehand. I removed the I've riders to help getting the bolts in, and found out how fiddly it is to refit the lower bolts 😖
