Turns quite easily but it can hold position to shut the door. I've tried your method and will leave it a day to see if successful.

When I had problems with the doorcatch it was a little loose. I couldn‘t notice it real, only with some force I could turn it. But
it has turned itself. It took some time to notice the problem.
I cure it in the „factory way“. With some massive hits of a hammer. After the problem was solved I also think about a little LOCTITE.
But keep an eye on the manual. There are some special fluids for fitting pins in holes. Very interesting: looking in the datasheed it‘s like welded. Up to 280Grad Celsius. And there is a notice: it‘s fixed in a way that you damage the parts and the clued area will be fixed!
I think it‘s a good way for a easy repair.
