I recall that Coopers was a small coachbuilder that specialized in fitting modified mass produced bodies on to new chassis. Could this body be from a Ford Anglia E04A? If so it would be possible to create a replica....

Not sure even the early ones has suicide doors .... saying that it does have the look of a production shell of the period ... though probably modified in-house by the coachbuilders.... what an interesting car .... is it still in use in the US I wonder?

Apparently the saloon body was built along the lines of a Hilman areo Minx, the roof was of one piece of alloy , with a sun roof added a couple of years after the car was built. There is along with a an article relating to Gerry & Barbara Willburn`s Morgan involvement another image of the car in the March 2022 edition of FORMAT. If you want a copy of the mag PM me with an email address.
BTW Gerry was the go to guy in the US for Morgan production info as I believe he spent some time at the factory over the years looking through the ledgers.

With these old cars I always wonder about the original owners .... it's one thing going on a website and 'specifying' your car (colour, interior leather, wheels etc.) ... but back in the day they rolled away with a bare chassis from their favoured manufacturer then dragged it off to a coachbuilder who's previous work they'd liked and from an idea started metal-bashing!! ..... that's really having a bespoke car! ..... you have to admire their dedication and confidence.
Gerry sounds a true Morgan Guy!!

Yes it must have been fun. I remember at Burtons you could order suits that way. The fat spotty 17 year old didn't quite look like Paul Newman in the sting, so there are risks attached!!

My very first suit came from Burtons! ... proper made to measure .... of course I was never a fat spotty teenager so Paul Newman had to worry about not looking as good as me!! 🙂
K As this post is already off topic a PS won't hurt 😁 ..... couple of interesting things about Burtons ... old Montague was a strict teetotaler and to promote his ideals built snooker halls above his shops that served no alchohol to give working folk somewhere to go other than the pub .... some still run even though the branches are closed.
Geologists trivia .... as a rock- botherer I can spot an old Burton's shop from 100 yards ... they were clad in polished slabs of Larvikite (dark blue/black granular igneous rock... pretty stuff) .... at one time geologists used to quip that the biggest single outcrop of Larvikite in the world was on British high streets!

The aluminium roof panel makes sense if it was a Ford body, upright Fords had a fixed fabric roof to same money/ weight. The bodies for these Fords were made by Briggs Motor Bodies in Doncaster, where they also made the bodies for Jowett, the site subsequently became a tractor factory.

Typing of fabric roofs, reminded me of the first car I saw with such a roof was a Riley RM, it fairly captured my imagination at the time, and I ever had a soft spot for Riley`s from then on, though never got round to owning one.. pity, but the old Mog makes up for that... (-:
