Greetings All

I've not been on this forum long enough to know if such a thread has been run already?

Having randomly submitted a few bits recently by accident (the sad demise of the owner of the Psychedelic Cobra and its appearance in a Beatles song and a couple of odd facts regarding the premises of Montague Burton, Tailors to the Masses)

I wondered what other trivia, strange coincidences and surprisingly true snippets the membership might be harbouring?

I'll kick off with one that might not be surprising to some of our continental members (and it's 'mog' related 🙂)

In Germany cats don't have 'nine lives' but only seven .... some other countries (Iran rings a bell) share this feline short-changing! .... might be worth following up if, like me, you intend to be reincarnated as a cat! 😀

K

Sneeze in Poland and you will be wished "a hundred years" of life. Not that far removed from "bless you" or gesundheit but enough to be noted.

I am Greek by birth and it was custom to throw money inside a car that one just purchased. It would range from coins to sometimes paper. The premise is one of good luck and because the car has money, it won't need money from the owner to have something fixed.

I tended swap cars often which then had family members tell me that if I needed money I should ask vs buying another car and waiting with the door open smile

My surname is Buchan, the district I live in (in Scotland) is named Buchan, it’s a name common only to this area and the clan Buchan chief has his estate here. If you were to dig straight down until you come out the other end, in Victoria between Sydney and Melbourne there’s a place called Buchan. There’s a Buchan river and amazing Buchan caves https://www.parks.vic.gov.au/places-to-see/parks/buchan-caves-reserve

They think the name Buchan has aboriginal roots, but it was probably named by either an extradited riffraff Buchan criminal or perhaps a not so skilful Buchan fisherman who got lost and just kept going.

The dot above lower case "i" is a tittle.
