I have spent a couple of hours adjusting the arms and blades today.
It is impossible to stop thr blades going over the windscreen frame. I have the parked position adjusted so that the blades rest right up to the frame, they still go over the frame by about 1/2" on the other side of the sweep.
To stop this shorter blades would be required, the stock blades are approximately 7" long, should be nearer 6 1/2".
Everyone with a late model must have the same problem.
Any thoughts on trying to commission some shorter blades?

Have you thought about using a razor saw? Available at Model shops it should make short work of the arm. A Stanley would trim the rubber, and the plastic end will slot over the cut.

If you mean a razor saw, they damage very easily with use. The blade soon ripples, so I would only try it with a new one. The secret is to use gentle strokes. The cut is extremely thin, hence the name. I have one in the loft, but it's well used, so not fit for this job. Have you looked on e-bay?

Hi again Dave, sorry i ment old wiper blades, I don't want to cut up my new ones just yet. I think I would try and cut them with a cut off wheel on the grinder.

No old blades. be careful if you use the grinder. The blade metal won't like the heat and violence!!!

Is it only one of the blades that goes over the frame?

All three blades go over the frame.
I suspect that they use three wiper blades of the size they do to overcome some silly legislation about the percentage area of the screen that must be wiped.
because the blade is partially clear of the screen when it is over the frame, it will never wipe properly, there will always be a miss.
I'm convinced that shorter blades would actually work better.
I also think that the blades will eventually mark / wear the chrome on the bottom of the frame.

Incredible! In this thread cars from 1967 to 3 months old are reported as having a problem with wiper blades going over the windscreen frame.
In all that time no-one has found a solution, and the factory still uses the same mechanism and position of the wiper spindles.

Any thoughts on trying to commission some shorter blades? Ask John Worrell at Hearts of England because the 4 seater has a bigger screen and longer blades. I am not at home so can't measure mine but there are 2 lengths.
