I talked to Gott and Wynn about this issue.
Their advice is don't lock the car, especially with the hood up.
A new car radio is less than the insurance excess on a claim and a slashed roof is a large and inconvenient claim.

Just tried with the key - can't open from the inside if you lock the door with the key. So it sounds like the Plus Four is standard operation.

That is the logic I have always applied and never locked them.
I'm OCD with the tin tops though

No exterior locks or even handles on my car so that is the procedure, an arm through the window is the way in. (I've often had people watch me do it but I've never been challenged!)

Curiously there are actually locks, operated by flicking a little tag next to the interior handle. I'm not sure of the purpose.

I use mine as a check to make sure my doors are properly shut. They have been known to swing open on particularly bumpy corners when taken enthusiastically if not fully shut.

Those internal lock toggles allow you to lock the doors so you don’t get robbed when you stop at traffic lights for instance.
I also make use of them to ensure that the doors are fully closed before we set off. If you don’t pull the door hard enough it looks to be closed but only holds on the first catch which can easily let the door fly open when you go round a corner. In that case, the lever will only go half way round the quadrant, whereas when the door is securey shut, it will reassuringly go the whole way. We regularly adopt this procedure as part of pre flight checks.

Most 'blipper' operated central locking requires a 2nd blip, the first just locks, the second deadlocks so thieves breaking a window can't pop the door open from the inside door latch

Have the CX owners tried the 2nd blip technique ??

Surely central locking is just a gimmick on any soft topped Morgan from the security point of view. Any Morgan insurance specialist isn't going to be the least concerned about the subleties of its working given the Classics don't even have such.

It is worth asking your insurance company how you stand on door locking and alarms.

Some have a policy that states that if doors are unlocked they void cover. (Yet they cover a soft top....)

I have done that with the boat but never with the car since I suspectt it would void any claim for theft. Ask your insurance company - it would be interesting to hear what they said.
