Picked this up on another sports car forum, not that any Morganeers would ever push their luck in regard to speed limits, etc. etc.
a word of early warning for those intending touring in the Highlands and elsewhere in the north of Scotland this summer. Police Scotland are expanding their mobile safety camera operation on all tourist routes this year. Camera vans, unmarked patrol cars, and HGV undercover vehicles, will all be deployed to enforce traffic violations and inconsiderate or dangerous driving. Road users are also being encouraged to submit dash cam footage to the police of any instances deemed to be breaking traffic laws. This is in response to a high number of irresponsible and inconsiderate driving instances on rural and trunk road networks during the staycation boom in the Highlands last year. Wonderful roads to enjoy in the north of Scotland, just be aware that eyes will be watching. Both official and civil.

Good. The last thing we need is nutters spoiling the fun by driving like nobheads. It's perfectly possible to drive and have a laugh on the roads of Scotland without speeding and/or putting other people at risk.

Having driven most of it I wouldn't like to speed on those roads. Also the views demand a gentler drive.

Is this a forum for sports car owners or geriatric member of BRAKE?
By the way, it the scottish approach puts you off going as it would do me, dont try north yorkshire because its just as bad. Got myself an NIP there last year for just one mph over the real limit so hardly hooliganism.

Just 1mph over the speed limit s cause for a"NIP"..? In times past I would have thought there was a percentage leeway re speedo accuracy, and even today with a totally automated digital process from flash to cash, I might have expected some leeway to have been programmed in...?
In my part of the world around the arrival of Spring there ever seem to be advice on TV in relation to increased police activity knowing that sports cars, m/cycles and the likes will be emerging from hibernation and heading out for a BLAST on the first sunny dry day.. Whether the script i posted at the beginning of this thread was part of any such process hoping to work it`s way around the www or not, who knows..?

I believe there is a requirement for all car manufactures to fit speedos that over read by 10% so there is no excuse for exceeding the speed limit. There are a number of counties in the UK where no leeway is given, East Anglia is one example. Concentrate and watch for the signs. Drive safe.

Bugundymog (Keith) is certainly correct about some forces being extremely strict on speeding; Dorset is certainly one of them, so anyone on the A35 heading west, be very careful. Bud 4/4 - Stanley

Hi Guys
I am from Scrabster on the nc500 and every day it’s like a car showroom with some great cars passing.
Regarding speed, the last speed check picked one guy doing 148mpn, that’s the problem.
Probably the best car tour in the world. If anybody doing it I would love to meet you and talk Morgan
