Is the dizzy tight? .... if it slipped round for whatever reason it would still have everything it needed to work ... just not in the right places .... good luck.

Is the carb opening properly to let air through? Could the cable or mechanism have broken somehow.?

Perhaps suspect fuel...?
OK so it does not even run on easy start.... perhaps the plugs were soaked before the last attempt with easy start which may explain that phenomena.. If you dry the plugs then squirt the easy start, that might cancel out that line of thought..?

I know you said there is apparently a good current in the lead above the plugs but are the plugs themselves sparking, i.e. the engine has a solid ground?

Thanks for the responses * the distributor is tight * both throttle and choke cables free and working * extra earth lead fitted between block and battery Even with the plugs heated to red hot (blow lamp) and Easystart it won’t even fire, the plugs are fine
The fact that it won’t fire and there is fuel and a spark suggests timing but I have checked this more than a dozen times and all is fine

Is the cam going round?
Is the dizzy cap back on in the right place?
Did you remove the plug wires and reverse their placings on return?

I understand the cables move but does the throttle body / butterfly. The linkage can fail. Or is there some thing blocking the air inlet / filter?

No, the butterfly’s are fine both the throttle and choke work fine the rotor arm turns with the engine, I can only assume some form of negative magic is at large - it makes as much sense I am not the greatest mechanic but I did my time in the 1970’s and have never had this much of a problem, now four days, and nothing!

It is strange!
To confirm - you have a good spark at each plug and plugs are getting wet when you're cranking the engine over. That would suggest fuelling and ignition is OK.
It would suggest a timing issue? Can you get a rough idea of timing using the crank pulley timing marks? Static timing should give it enough to get it to start.
I wonder if it might be a problem with the dizzy shaft? Maybe the worm drive has sheared a tooth and she's skipped a few degrees.

Seeing as how we have thus far thrown everything but the kitchen sink at the problem,.... I'll add my Canadian nickel... Does your car have a ballast resistor wired into the start circuitry? if so, verify that it is functional. The condenser is also a viable suspect /culprit. I share your frustration, Good luck!
