I'm just going through the quotes for my abarth.
The gocompare quotes are so much cheaper than my local broker....does anyone have experience of making a claim with, for instance, Dial Direct?
Is there a real service tradeoff?

Be very careful of previously unknown insurers as I know of one individual who has gone bust with at least 3 of his "insurance" companies to the tune of averagely £13 million each. My recent experience in a no blame RTC I was fortunate to be with Admiral whereas the offending driver was with one of these cheap insurers who failed to communicate with Admiral at all and then went bust leaving Admiral with a deficit of circa £25k and me out of pocket by £750 excess.

Update Headley's renewal £330.95, agreed valuation and 5000 miles
Gott & Wynne came in at £462.69 for to same, both use the same under writer's (ERS)
Talking to Grott & Wynne, they did explain quite a few things about other cheaper companies.
Like leaving your hood down while shopping, petrol station etc your not covered by the cheaper insurance companies, screen cover some cheaper companies have a limit for replacing the screen. Allows check the small print was thee advice.
So think I will be staying with Headley.

One to watch with Headley is their breakdown cover via RAC only gives a recovery distance of 10 miles from point of collection if in UK - so pretty poor in my opinion, watch those T&C's chaps

Just checked my policy (Headley). The small print says “Recovery to the nearest garage or any one destination of your choice.”
I read that as taking me home - a friend insures with Headley and was recovered from Ironbridge to her favourite mechanic in Leicestershire recently - a lot more than 10 miles.
