Apologies if this was posted in a current thread but here you go. Morgan has partnered up with Sennheiser and Continental. Perhaps the feedback about the current set up has spurred this on? I for one love the perforated speaker cover treatment in the current CX and find the grills shown in the press release a bit too contrived. But that's just me smile

"Continental’s innovative system abandons conventional speaker technology triggering selected surfaces in the vehicle interior to produce sound. The result is an extremely natural and enveloping sound experience for the occupants, who feel as if they are sitting in a concert hall surrounded by sound. In comparison to conventional audio systems, Ac2ated Sound not only produces high audio quality but also enables a reduction of the weight and space taken up by up to 90 percent."

It'll be some achievement if they manage that in a Morgan!

Kudos for the light weight though, less weight is always a good thing :-)

Aren't all the surfaces of a Morgan fully occupied making sounds all of their own?? .... whether you want them to or not! 🙂

Weight reduction of 90% sounds great ... but like most press-release statistics mean not a lot .... saving 90% of the weight of a pair of modern car speakers is probably less than having a pee before going for a drive ... sounds a bit like a solution looking for a problem

I have no idea how Sennheiser get their 90% reduction, but in the world of guitar cabinets the move to neodymium magnets is helping to get weights down to manageable levels, which helps when lugging kit around for gigs and such. My living room amp is a Victory V40 Combo and although it sounds absolutely fantastic, it weighs 50lbs so you really don't want to be carrying it any distance. I'm sure the Sennheisers wouldn't weigh that much anyway, but a speaker can be a fairly chunky bit of kit.

I have never been convinced that a Morgan needs a radio. You can't hear it - although perhaps that's better in the CX cars? I remember when I speced my first Roadster the dealer encouraged me to get a radio saying it would be easier to sell if I ever wanted to. I resisted that and have never felt the need for one.

Yes I saw it as a good way of really increasing the mark up on the options list innocent me cynical smile or an admission that the previous CX sound systems have been found to be wanting according to folk on here..

I have a great system in my trad (previous owners choice Becker) but it only gets switched on in the garage occasionally and never on the move, I have a Morgan to get away from everyday "noise" like radios thumbs.

Anything other than the Librands twin Sports exhaust in my ears is superflous love

I have finally solved the audio in a Mog issue, bluetooth hearing aids fed from my iphone.
It is possible to achieve a perfect combination of engine noise and music...

Perhaps new Morgans will get a pair of these....

Indeed Hamwich ... as a lapsed Bass player, lugging 18" cabs about in the '60s meant I never needed a gym!

I'm also bemused by the 90% claim ..... modern car speakers are pretty light and compact .... even using the internal panels as the actual sound-board means you still need the driver ... and that's the heavy bit, the diaphragm weighs nothing .... unless they're looking at an 18" vibrating panel and saying it's 90% lighter than an 18" bass speaker would be? 🙂

Even if I could hear the stereo- I think I prefer the supplied soundtrack .
