These guys offer a more up-to-date seat option and you could spec the leather cover option for about £650 a seat may be cheaper than recovering a second hand seat or the existing seat.

These look better, but may be limited with trim options Corbeau

The trim shop at Allon White's used to offer the option of new recliners or mods to your existing seats, may be worth a chat with Shaun

The Corbeaus work out at almost £1000 each and yes AW will offer correct new recliners at approx £3500 per pair.

Either would be fine but the price is eye-watering especially after adding the rest of the interior trim. So £3500 for something aftermarket looking or £5000 for something genuine looking.

Hence my dithering dilemma

5K on interior, £2k at tornado and another £2k on paint (still no easy hood remember) or put the £10k into a newer car?

But there’s also the option I used last time - do nothing and keep dithering!

You need to find a 4-seater being broken or perhaps do a swap deal with a 4-seater owner! Sorry, not me though. I can't say I recline my seats often but it's nice to have the choice.

Re the seats that recline

I’ve bought and tried to adapt MX5 seats. I managed to adapt the seat base by cutting it up and welding it back together 4 inches narrower, I even managed to chop up some foam to make a base to sit on. It was much too high though. MGF seats are wider and taller but more comfortable.

The seat back on the MX5 was far too wide but very difficult to modify as the steel frame is moulded into the foam. Easy enough to cut up but not possible to weld back together due to the fire risk.

One of the problems is that almost uniquely, Morgan seats are thinner at the front, ie they taper forwards. Almost every seat I’ve seen tapers to the rear and are wider at the front. Another is that Morgan seats are very shallow, I would estimate the average bum is not more than an inch above the cockpit floor. Most of the seats I’ve seen are much higher than this.

Thanks for the thoughts though, I’m still dithering.

My problem is that I’m oddly proportioned and have rather short legs so my seat position is usually quite far forward but my body and arms are more sensible dimensions to I drive with my seat well reclined to get comfortable. I’ve driven like this for over 40 years and any other position doesn’t feel ‘right’.

I’ve found a compromise with my car using wooden wedges under the seat that tilt the whole seat back, lifting the front. It’s better but not ideal. Nowhere near as comfortable as a normal car or the car I went to see a couple of weeks ago (linked above)

Just go for the newer comfortable car and be ready to hardwire the mickey mouse dash electrics if necessary as per Borghi thumbs
Avoid the GDI unless you want to chuck money at it finishing what MMC should have done before they flogged them, as per Dave's statement.
