We took a trip to London on Friday where my Morgan seemed to create a lot of sensation up in the Smoke. I have never experienced this before - not to the same extent. It might have been because there were a lot of tourists around. For a while I felt like a Hollywood star pulling up to a junction in Old Compton Street where the Mog was endlessly photographed by amazed pedestrians - only it wasn't me they were photographing. One motorcyclist pulled up and said he had never seen a vintage car in such good condition. When I told him the car was only two years old he refused to believe me. Perhaps it was down to the fact that my recent waxing with a sampler pot of Zymol Atlantique has given the bodywork a superstar lustre.

A while back we stopped in Greenwich Park and within seconds the car was swamped by Japanese tourists - all of whom wanted their photo taken with the Morgan. It took a while to take them all.

The Japs love them as do the French. If you have a couple of Mogs going through a village they go wild in France, the place stops. We have had Italian drivers in Italy leaning out of the drivers window looking backwards whilst videoing on a M way, not nice as they drift towards you, also the lorries sound their horns which at first is worrying.

I suspect every Morgan will raise interest in a wide variety of locations where most vehicles may not, thus most of us fortunate enough to own a Morgan may just accept that interest from others as part of the fun of ownership, assuming one has a sharing nature..? Quite a few folk mostly kids have been photographed by their parents sitting in my car and vice versa far more regularly than in times past when a camera would be required to capture the scene, but these days everyone has a camera in their phone.. All of which takes me back to a time before the technological juncture of phone and camera, which was brought to mind by recent tales of those fortunate enough to be travelling in foreign parts at the moment, sending me off in search of an associated pic I took circa 2003 while visiting Pompeii. Having arrived early before the site was opened to ease finding a place to park and hopefully avoid the heat of later in the day and the build up of tourists, we found a spot near the front of the the souvenir shop entrance, we were approached by one of the bus drivers in the parking area who shared pics he carried in his bus of the classics he had owned over the years. He could not have been more pleased than when I asked if he wanted to sit in the Mog to have his picture taken.... So if you are ever at that car/bus park in your Morgan and it attracts a bus driver, it might just be Tortora Alfonso... I do not know if Italians put their surname first, so his "Christian" name may be Alfonso.. Whatever.. I just thought to post the pic I took at the time, though like me, I suspect he may not look quite as he did back then.. ![[Linked Image]](https://www.tm-img.com/images/2022/06/05/Tortora-Alfonso.jpg)

Almost as if he's about to zoom off into the sunset.

Across from Maratea to Matera the hillside town made even more famous by the recent James Bond film. Just 120 miles, early morning on empty well surfaced roads to escape the heat. A rest day here tomorrow before the drive home to Cambridge.

An early arrival at a soggy Sandringham for the Jubilee motoring pageant. Came close to staying at home but the heavy overnight rain had reduced to light drizzle. A great shame after all the organisational work put in by FolkMog secretary Rob Davies, assisted by Ali. The very large stand close to all the action including food, drink trade and a huge music stage, looked a little sparse with fewer than 40 of the 60 booked cars turning up. ![[Linked Image]](https://i.imgur.com/zT5jbxp.jpeg) Despite the cold and damp some made an effort when the drizzle subsided for a while. ![[Linked Image]](https://i.imgur.com/27PE1hB.jpeg) Most others sort some protection from hastily errected tents and awnings though. ![[Linked Image]](https://i.imgur.com/a8xaNSM.jpeg) Despite the weather we managed a toast to the Queen and enjoyed packed lunch washed down with bubbly and banter. Many thanks to Rob.
