I part-ex'd mine with Oakmere for a Lotus as I knew I could easily shift the Lotus on to a dealer. Oakmere took approximately 9 months to sell mine. Aero +8's seem to take awhile to sell.

Worthers car is fantastic, but for comparison on pricing, Runneymede Motors have a gorgeous (near concourse) grey E Type tor £89,950! So prices across a range of desirable classics seem to be softening.

Thanks for all your replies, I would agree the price is high, even though it's got almost every extra that was available even down to the extremly heavy Morgan suitcase. The price was decided by Oakmere and I have just left them to it. Assuming they are selling it fully serviced and with warranty I'm not sure whether I should ask them to reduce it significantly or wait as suggested till the right buyer comes along. I did want to part ex it for a pre cat 1992 +8 but it sold before we could get back to the UK and view it.

Yes, I think we're seeing a fall in demand for big V8s, and it's not just the cost of fuel that is suppressing demand. And of course a significant supply of CX cars too. The quandary is do you market the car elsewhere and drop the price, or do you grit your teeth and hang on hoping that the right buyer will turn up?
TBH asking new Plus Four money for a 7 year old car does seems a bit optimistic. I certainly know where my money would be going if I were in the market.

Do you not think a new car sale will always be pushed by a Sales person before a commission sale ? They have to shift the new cx cars

It depends on the dealer -profit- not the price in my experience. They can make more on second hand if the prices are right. Look at the S/H prices right now.
I like the Plus Six and expect the new chassis has benefits all over but given the choice of a natural V8 in an Aero +8 vs the turboIL6 auto I would still prefer the Aero car. But there does need to be a gap between it and self spec’d CX to make it happen.
I have been amazed at the prices mentioned above and can only assume it is a deliberate manipulation to tweak perception. Above £100k you open the choice up to a lot of other things. People specifically buying a Morgan are not quite the same as people looking for a £100k+ (sorry for the sweeping generalisation) car?
Everyone loves a Morgan. Even me, unless it's broken again.

I’m guessing that a dealer would far prefer to sell a new CX than a similarly priced Aero- as they have to hit certain targets for MMC?

Market Forces are a great leveler and sometimes harsh reality, what we think something is or needs to be worth and what it is actually worth to the market can be starkly at odds. The reality is if you need to sell it lower the price if you don't then hang on and it might or might not sell, currently the market is telling you it won't sell.

Sometimes manufacturers can influence the values in the market place significantly upwards. One of the better known examples was by Patek Phillippe (watch manufacturers) who purchased at auction used watches at well over current prices then being realised. To create significant price headroom in the market place and attract investors/buyers into their marque from which they have raised significantly their current new watch prices.

I met with Oakmere today and suggested we reduce the price to see if that generated any interest. If not then I will take the car back and either keep it for another year, alternatively I may px it for a Porsche.
