So much Contradictory Claptrap, motivated up by some 'Hearsay' from 'we do not really know where' clip The longer I am a Morgan Owner - who loves his car and does not have a bad word to say about it - The less enamored I become about some of the wider Morgan Fraternity. If you don't rate the product, get rid. I agree totally Frank. I have not been in this forum very long but already I see some of this rumour mongering that we have seen in the Moto Guzzi forums. People, naturally, become concerned and without realising it contribute to spreading the rumour by seeking more information, verification, or denial. It is incredible people who claim to love the marque can start harmful rumours just to make themselves seem important by being in possession of some "inside information"

My opinions are well documented and as much as I dislike many of the negative comments made on this thread, and agree entirely with Frank's post, we (Andy, Brian and I) have always championed free speech on this forum (which makes it unique as the influential past and present Morgan discussion groups have, at times, had very heavy handed moderation).
That said, there are a few people on here - namely newer members with a grudge - who seem to relish the chance to get a dig in against the Morgan Motor Company. It surprises me because in most cases, these people don't appear to have taken the time to visit the factory (this goes a long way to making you realise that there are many genuine people who work hard, and with passion, to put these cars together and rely on them for their livelihood) nor contacted the directors when they have had an issue (I know I wrote to Charles when I had issues with my 1st Aero 8 and in fairness to him, he wrote back and we resolved my concerns); whilst I don't expect everyone to respond in the same manner, I do wonder if they truly want something to be resolved if they don't take steps to put that into motion?
And like Frank, my attitude is, once the car stops bringing you pleasure, sell it and move on. This is a community for Morgan enthusiast, if you aren't an enthusiast, why sit here and moan and expect it to be a accepted. Talk Morgan has always been a very positive forum with lively discussion and differing view points, please, let's all work hard to ensure negativity doesn't start to invade; there is enough doom and gloom in the press, without wishing it into something we all do as a hobby and for pleasure.

Simon, I wasn't trying to generate grudge e mails. Rather raise a concern that the recession seems to be hurting MMC as it is most companies.
I personally hope they will survive as I love the marque & dream of buying a new trad if my pension pot survives the current mess to fund it. John

That's two dreams John! Unfortunately what we're seeing is a fact of modern life and communications (modern media / reporting has a lot to answer for in this respect). Where did the old Bulldog spirit go? Cheers,

I agree with Frank and Simon. I have not owned a Morgan for very long, but I realise and fully accept that the quality you can expect from a handbuilt car is never going to match that of a robot-built, mass produced car. Even if it costs 100k, its made by people who can make mistakes no matter how skilled and motivated they are, I considder it part of the charm. The basic design and engineering of the car should be sound because its been around for so long. And if a company like Morgan goes into rapid development of new models, with very limited facilities for testing, you would expect a few hickups in the basics as well. Maybe they should have taken more time to develop and test? Time will tell. There is no point spreading negativity based on rumours or conjecture. On the other hand if customers have (serious) issues with their cars you would expect the dealers and/or the factory to make sure that the customer is not out of pocket. The "cracked windscreen issue" is a good example and I think (constructive) criticism on such issues adds a lot of value to this forum. It could/should also be of value to MMC, because although we accept the cars are not perfect, they can be improved. What I am trying to say in too many words; negativity on the forum bad, constructive criticism good!!. Cheers J

Anyone who has been to the factory will know that there is no scope there to stockpile, and to move half completed cars off site would be seen and reported with photos.
sales are definitely down. no waiting list, and plenty of new unregistered ones about. all Morgan dealers have at least 2 if not more unsold cars ... Errrrr.......my dealer certainly hasn't! not sure where you get your information from.

I guess that, for those of us who have have owned several Morgans, or have kept one a long time, something must be right. For me, the car gives pleasure in spades and has been as reliable as anything else over the years. I think mine is probably better than when it left the factory and I enjoy servicing it and generally pottering about. I remember trading my first 4/4 back to Tim Packer for another ( and getting 5000 pounds more than I paid for it) and subsequently another. He remarked that he had never known me take a test drive: I replied that I didn't need to as I had learnt the basics. Well, I'm still learning thirty years later and still enamoured. Meabh.

I have no grudge against Morgan. As stated in a previous post, I love my Morgan. I have purchased four Morgans in the last five years which, even by the high standards of this forum must demonstrate mild enthusiasm for the marque. However, I am not blind to its failings and I am prepared to speak out about them in the hope that it may contribute to an improvement being made. If you ruffle the feathers of an Ostrich, it might even pull its head out of the sand!
