Certainly not as vintage as the Becker, however with a distinctly 1980s/1990s feel is the Blaupunkt Bremen which I have fitted in my 2007 Aero: https://blaupunkt.com/cus/product/bremen-sqr-46-dab/ The cassette slot is not in fact a cassette slot and just a flap which reveals an SD card slot and USB etc. The unit is quite short front to back which makes it easy to install in the Aero. Comes with a plug in mini microphone for Bluetooth phone connection for calls and streaming. Expensive but very pleased with it.
Cheers, Paul

Not sure how these interchange but there do seem to be a few “retro” options around like the following. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/195035464235

I have been looking for a single DIN retro style infotainment system and have come across Kraemer Auomotive who seem to be making a range of retrofit single DIN systems which offers the nearest replacement that I can find to a Becker Mexico. Has anyone come across Kraemer and bought any of their product ? https://www.kraemerautomotive.com/en/products/

They do look very interesting MJF. I am afraid I cannot help with experience or feedback but would be keen to get your comments moving forward. The alpine in the Coupe is an eyesore. I use my iPhone for pretty much everything and have a nice new mount coming which I will share once tested. I looked at the 1DIN units where the screen was hovering in front and could be lowered so it did not obscure the buttons. Sony, Alpine and others offer there. Do beware of depth of any replacement unit in the dash as there is not a lot of space/depth. Many of the modern mech-less (no cd) units seem to be a lot better. https://www.amazon.co.uk/Sony-Xav-AX8050ANT-Monitor-CarPlay-Android/dp/B07ZJZSSTY.

Alistair
I recently bought a Coupe which had a Pioneer unit with a flip out screen fitted, which obscures all the buttons and just isn't in keeping with the rest of the car. I am therefore looking for something more in keeping looks wise, but with modern functionality. I guess a modern version of the Becker Mexico.
I have contacted Kraemer to get a better understanding of what they can do as the have some interesting product in the "Design examples of Retrofit Solutions" on their website.
I will let you know how I get on with them.

Yes the flip out is a bit of a blocker. The one I was looking at had it mounted in front permanently so it did not go back in. It did however have an up/down slide bracket so I could mount it leaving the buttons clear. Looking at my use now I did not want to pay the £800 plus fitting as nearly everything runs of the iPhone. The actual functions I use in the head unit are mostly down to the volume knob. I have ordered one of these to mount off the very bottom edge of the screen as it is Apple Mag-Safe so just clip on and go. https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B09153YDDPI use a similar thing in the MB and it is great. Charges and mounts. https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B09LTZLWSVKeen to get your feedback the KR1LB Darkmight go.

Though I have a head unit hidden under the glovebox, it's used less & less in summer/ roof off. Mostly I'm mounting my phone for satnav, and I might occasionally bluetooth music to the head unit. I came across https://www.quadlockcase.co.uk/collections/shop-car which gives me a rock solid mounting for my phone. I have one for the Aero tucked neatly in between the steering wheel and quarterlight, and one in the i8. It's not a cheap answer to getting rid of vibrations, but it works. Will
