Can someone identify the long thin part which is showing sign of rust below the black brake servo also showing signs of rust please? Series 1 roadster which Ford duratec engine. Thanks

Don't know for sure but try this as I'm a Plus 8 man but that level of general rust looks pretty advanced imho.
Loads of Roadster owners on here so someone will pop up in a minute.

My 23 year old car doesn't have a trace of it but had only covered 18,000 miles when I got it and now she is up to 37,000 miles used all year round by me for 8 years but never on salted roads.

So I'm thinking yours must be an all weather high miler.

Have done a bit more digging around and it's brake related as the other side was hoses attached. The picture is looking from underneath and the top tside, along with the servo look in pretty decent condition. There are no leaks so think it might just need a bit of rust converter to prolong its life. It's done 45k but prior yo me acquiring it, it was garaged over in the lakes and used in all weather. The underseal could do with some attention so I think once I've treated the rust, I'll top up the underseal and give it a lick of paint to protect it further.

I agree that it is clutch master cylinder. Also very surprised at amount of rust in the area. I would be looking for possible hydraulic fluid leaks. No matter how slight. Have levels been checked on both reservoirs? Leaks of antifreeze from any pipes above also worth investigating. Otherwise may simply be winter grit/salt damage.

Probably caused by sloppy topping up of the reservoirs whilst bleeding the brake and clutch hydraulics. It's highly corrosive.

They just mopped up what they could see from top of the car maybe.

Sorry, I didn't see this picture yesterday, and that part is identical. That outlet with the white cap is attached to a tube that goes to a little reservoir with Lockheed on it. I just assumed Lockheed had something to do with brakes. That red bit on the end must be a plug as another hose is screwed onto this end.
I've been under this morning treating the rust and it isn't as bad as what the photo suggests once a good scrub and painting of rust converter. It did give me a chance to have a look around in detail when under and have discovered a slight leak from the gearbox drain plug. Bit more ptfe tape me thinks.

I also found an electrical lead whilst looking at the gearbox that wasn't attached to anything. Photo to follow.

This other end of tbus electrical plug goes into the top of the gearbox. Any idea of what it is and why it isn't connected. To anything?

That will be the clutch slave cylinder feed - the red bung replacement end that is.

A Roadster owner will put you right on the plug/socket.

It's not unusual to find odd spare electrical feeds around a Morgan as I understand it one loom is used to cover all the options, so some will be unused.
