Based upon the thread about JLR's use of Master and Slave, I'm amazed they are still allowed to keep a painting of Just Jane sitting on a massive weapon!
Cheers, Paul

If anyone is on a visit to East Kirkby, the BBMF, or just Lincolnshire, call into the Metheringham Airfield Visitor Centre, only a few miles away and along with other displays we have a 1944 C-47A Dakota that we allow full access to. You can sit in the pilots seat or on the para seats in the back, something you won't get at East Kirkby or the BBMF. We are open on Wednesdays and weekends from April to October and staffed entirely by volunteers. Parts of the original WW2 Lancaster bomber base are still visible and you can drive down one of the three runways as it is now a public road...a wide one! I was going to revisit Ian, but by the time that castle had beaten my duff knee, decided a gentle drive home was the best move I will definitely be back when next in the area though

Sorry you couldn't make it to Metheringham this time Graham. There have been a few changes since your last visit. The Dakota is now housed in it's purpose built hangar and we have been able to progress some of those jobs we had been putting off when it was outside. It's amazing what can be achieved by some willing volunteers when you have a roof, electric and a workbench. We have recently acquired a P&W R1830 Dakota engine for display from our friends at the BBMF, it needs some TLC but will make a great addition to the display. Next big job is a complete repaint, the original paint has faded badly in the years of outdoors living. It's a job for this years closed season, RAF on one side and USAAF on the other to represent the USAAF Dakotas that operated into RAF Metheringham in WW2 and the aircrafts former actual military identity. ![[Linked Image]](https://www.tm-img.com/images/2022/07/13/DSC02952.jpg)

As mentioned above, we are about to start the repaint of our 1944 C-47A Dakota, a major undertaking for our small team of volunteers. Any financial help with this would be greatly appreciated. We also have a funding offer for a donor to specify the identity of the USAAF side of the Dakota, you can recreate the aircraft a relative flew or one that means something to you. https://www.justgiving.com/campaign/MAVC-DAKOTA

Everyone loves a Morgan. Even me, unless it's broken again.
