No expectation - and many of my colleagues are in shorts and polo shirts today. However, I've always taught in a suit, shirt and tie, and it makes me act more like a responsible adult.....
I get this. I once worked for a firm with a very strict dress code for customer facing employees. Plain, dark suit, white shirt, sober tie, plain belt, shoes without buckles. The best sales staff in this firm had hand made suits that I could not have afforded. I made do with Magee suits bought in the January sales each year. There was a point to it though - suited and booted, it changed how we acted and it made for a much more professional organisation. I always used to wear an ASDA washable suit for about £30, but now I've upgraded to a NEXT washable one which is a bit posher at £100. I usually wear it for a year, then bin it , and buy a new one in September. However the NEXT ones are better quality, so last a little longer, and there's less chance of catching fire if I run.

I confess to both having and wearing faded pink trousers and shorts as well as the ubiquitous navy blue gear.

A responsible what   oh well that's me in shorts forever then. Are you allowed shorts and a flat cap or will you get battered if you turn up in Yorkshire in that combo ?
Everyone loves a Morgan. Even me, unless it's broken again.

What a rebel!! ... how does the old fashion saying go? .... 'Blue and green should not be seen, unless there's something in between' ..... though I'm not sure anyone actually cares anymore 😁
But if the Fashion-Police turn out to be a real thing and you get the late night knock on the door ... post us a warning before they drag you away for re-education 🙂

Wore a three piece suit, shirt and tie to the day I retired. Good work TBM.
I then invested in all forms of colourful attire- including pink trousers. My Empire Knees preclude shorts- the wearing of which would offend all but dedicated Spike Milligan readers.
I was given a flowery pink shirt by my SIL. He bought it on Manly Island.
