I agree Abbo but it just seems to me that you have two springs with different tensions/tempering what have you and this is the only way of proving it other than placing scales between the shackles and individual jacks which may give you a fair indication I think.

It may not be possible, but I would be inclined to jack the car up on both sides so it is level, then see how the axle lies, assuming it is not sitting on the chassis.

The axle is level. It’s the body that is on the P. One side of the axle is the right height from the bump stop, the other is on the chassis bump stop, thus I believe forcing the O/S higher.
I could simply be looking at a naff spring, that has not enough oomph to raise the axle.

I think the opposite is true. The off-side spring has too much oomph and is not allowing the chassis to settle at it's natural ride height.

It looks to me as though the O/S spring has seized solid and is not allowing the chassis to droop at all.

Have you tried getting a heavy mate to bounce each side in turn while you observe the movement.

My guess is that you will get very little movement on the O/S, if any at all.

I'd get Mulfab to send a new spring and start by changing the O/S. ( Get them to double check the new spring first )

Bob, thanks for checking it out. The latest
I am at the moment jacking the front up just to see if it makes any difference to the clearance. Front wheels have raised practically symmetrically.
approx. raised by 100 mm 5”. With front wheels raised at an inch and then at 5 inches I can’t get my fingers between axle and bump stop.
I have had a fat bloke bounce and I can see the leafs are moving between each other, so not stuck.
SSL RS front, clearance, thread above the locking ring Approx. 55mm Drivers, Approx. 50mm Passenger. Bottom rebound springs are snug but just movable by hand.
I did not see it like this when I was out in her the day after I completed the mission.
Blinkin puzzling to say the least.

If you are taking the new springs back off the car anyway, how about bench testing the deflection of each when under the same load ? It would at least prove if one set is tempered harder ?

Take a drive over to Cambridge and see Cain at Wolf Performance, he will sort it.

Cain believes it unlikely I have bent or knackered the frame / chassis, more like I have bent a spring because I dared to accelerate without a anti tramp bar! Not that I drop the clutch at high revs etc.. Going to look at it, if I can’t seek and destroy the issue this weekend. If needs be I will swap them over to see if the problem either rights itself or occurs on the opposite side. First though, measuring and bits of string! Then Anti Tramp bars if it does,

Possible but likely??
So why only one spring bent and not both, I wonder? And surely, If it was bad enough to bend a spring beyond its limit of elasticity, you would have noticed tramping taking place when accelerating.
Was the difference evident right from the start? Think I would still be looking at spring quality and finding someone with a hydraulic press where a known loading can be applied at the centre of the spring and deflection measured.

Not saying it's the cause, but giving it stick off the line can load one spring more than the other! 🙂
