In't good old days it was interesting to look at proper timber treatments that actually worked like Tanalith and VacVac , some guaranteed 60 yr life even buried in the ground, Arsenic used to be included evil

Railway sleepers are the benchmark for preserving wood.......... Not sure if that was creosote or something more dangerous.

Good old creosote, used to buy 1000's second hand - they've banned that now

No, used railway sleepers, great for spreading loads out, like mobile cranes, massive stacks of rebar, etc
