After some chasing, I have finally received the renewal package just 5 days before expiry. It now seems to be handled by Finch Insurance in place of Hiscox. To my total dismay, they no longer provide a 12 month green card but restrict the EU coverage to 30 days a year. This is no use whatsoever to me and leaves me just a few days to find an alternative. To be blunt I think the brokers have done a piss poor job on negotiating the renewal with insurers, to have this very significant restriction in coverage, compared with what was previously offered. Another triumph for Brexit. Other Non-EU European countries like Switzerland and Norway, negotiated reciprocal motor insurance coverage, like we used to benefit from.
Any suggestions of alternative UK insurers would be very welcome especially if you know if they will provide a minimum of 6 months EU coverage.

Gott & Wynne seem to be picking up a lot of their business Many thanks Chris. I sent a quote request off to G&W and also to MSM. I hope at 76 I am not regarded as too decrepit to be driving an M3W. As a hint I told that both my other cars are Porsches, a Panamera and a 911 RSR. Wilson

There's been a lengthy discussion on the 4W bit, expressing concerns over Finch

At least you got your renewal documents. I never received mine even after chasing them on the phone several times. Like may others I know I made the move to G&W.

Gott & Wynne seem to be picking up a lot of their business They didn't get mine this year as as the quote I received was £40 more than the one I received last year. I was fortunate enough to be able to speak with someone I had dealings with before Headley were taken over by Finch and this years premium is the same as last and less than G&W.

Unfortunately Gott and Wynne can only offer 90 days EU coverage. Not sufficient for me.

I'm sure you have explored it but can you come at the M3W insurance from the other direction and insure it as normally resident in France with a UK limitation of useage to suit with a French company ? Good luck.

Richard,
I attempted some years ago to get it registered in France. The local vehicle registration people in Draguignan bent over backwards to be unhelpful. It seems in any case it would be expensive (€800 to €1,000 just for the registration) and the best insurance quote I got was over double what I was paying in the UK at the time. G&W also say the M3W must be garaged at both locations UK and France although how I can instantly magic a garage at my French property is not explained. I did wonder - has an M3W ever been stolen? I do have a concealed battery master switch, which I turn off whenever leaving the car but that is more for fire risk rather than theft. When I have left the Morgan for more than a couple of days at my French property, I jack it up onto axle stands at the front, remove one front wheel and hide that down in my cellar, so that it would be just too much trouble for a thief to steal.
Wilson
PS MSM can't help either as again 90 days maximum and I am over their age limit of 75.

Wilson, I felt sure you would have explored the possibility. Wow the local authorities seem less helpful than over here, what ridiculous demands they made. Yours must be the safest M3W in the world with your security measures, good luck with this. Headley moved from Hiscox, as you know and they have covered my Plus 8 with ERS - I don't know if direct contact with them is possible for you to try. P.S. From a random internet search but giving 180 days continous cover, maybe worth a call.
