I cannot remind which Boxster are you waiting.
But I can ancipate you that it will be a charm to drive. And that you will get bored soon, since it's too perfect.

I have long concluded that having a combination of perfect (but less interesting ) cars and less than perfect ( but engaging) cars should be my goal as there are different days and journeys that can benefit from both.

I wouldn't want all perfect cars, but I also wouldn't want only engaging cars.

A fun & purposeful drive out with Goodwood's RRC to hospice https://www.chestnut-tree-house.org.uk/ ... the families and the hospice staff genuinely appreciated being able to see, sit in & hear some very special cars.

(The Aero of course drew attention aplenty :-) )

Boxster S 917.... 2016.
Yes, I know it has 4 cylinders and a turbo, but the original Porsche 356 has 4 cylinders.....
I collect it tomorrow afternoon!

Peter, my first Porsche was a sixties 912, which had the same body shape as the 911, with a four cylinder air cooled engine..

In some ways the 912 was a better car than the 911, and certainly cheaper to run.

Believe me. It will be a great fun flag For a few months laugh2

Even the engine noise is not bad, for a B4.

Peter,

Horses for courses, I'm sure you will enjoy the Boxster and get more use out of it than you first thought. I jump in and out of the wife's Merc roof down all the time, sometimes rather than get the Morgan out. Just dead easy to drive, especially in the packed roads with day trippers around here at the moment, Got a usable boot and glides along the rough pothole urban roads around here and a peach to drive down some of the undulating country roads I don't take the Morgan down as it often bottoms out.

The crux for me is access to open air motoring. The means of achieving that is always open to debate, but as I get older I enjoy my creature comforts far more. If the sun gets too hot and we are starting to burn, just press a couple of buttons, the roof comes up and the ice cold air conditioning comes on without moving from my seat. Not the same for the Morgan 4 seater hood that needs two to drop or erect with a few curse words for good measure, The only thing I miss is not having a folding metal roof instead of a mohair soft top as you have to make sure its bone dry before lowering it otherwise it will leave creases in it.

What is the point having it?

Hi Peter, I can report Tarka was at the factory yesterday when I dropped my S1 off for a service, so hopefully they sort it quickly for you.
Cheers
