War and Peace is still open, the end is yet to be reached.
Talking to a couple of people who know far, far, more about modern electronics (both are from the aircraft repair business) the consensus of opinion is that it is either a chaffed/broken wire in the loom, or an intermittent earth issue, or both.
I hope for an update next week.... we shall see.

Having worked in electronics for a lifetime my money is on a damaged loom possibly dating from the initial build. The logic being that they would know exactly where the earthing points should be and thus easily checked one would have thought.

I really hope they get this cracked for you as soon as Peter.

Regarding Peter J's ongoing brake light issue, wasn't his an ex factory car that was used as a test bed for some electronic tweekery? I suggest this because his particular issues seem to be a standalone occurrences.
