The oddest one was the db thing which, whilst nicely made, it was impossible not to look at it as a copy of a db5. Inside it was clear that it was a jaguar base...and a jag engine I think. I can't imagine they sell all that many, it's a crazy price. They also do a mini for 100k...these are rebuilt old cars! Nick

A bit like that Cygnet thing they came up with - a real ugly looking thing I saw it demo at Goodwood when it launched, and died I think. Well I mean you are not going to buy the nearest and dearest that are you if you hope to eat next week, she is never going to make the week in the wet in one piece, I know I wouldn't..
Yes, the US was penalising the likes of Aston Martin and other manufacturers of gas guzzler's with an average MPG across the entire car range, So Aston Martin introduced the Cygnet with higher MPG to lift the entire range average MPG so they incurred lower duties/penalties as a result. I'm not sure whether the Cygnet was ever introduced into the USA, Mercedes did a similar trick with the Smart.

I had a sit in a Cygnet at Silverstone just as they were being released. The interior was the full package of Aston Martin materials, it was truly amazing.
But the cramped interior and huge price didn't do it any favours.

I regret not buying a Cygnet. Yes really...... There was a short period where you could buy one a year or two old for about 15k. i was offered one and as I had borrowed a Toyota IQ with the 1300 engine for a couple of weeks and found it to be a very entertaining and quick miniature car I was tempted. But I said no and six months later Aston withdrew them and they now go for loadsa money... Nick
