Yesterday - 18th August 2022 was a 1st for me - 80 mile round trip on the motorway in my Plus 4, from my home just south of Preston to Oakmere garage in Northwich. Driving on the M6 is NOT fun. Car needed an MOT (her first) and a service. Averaged 50.4 mpg Whilst I was there I took a few pics.. Ian S: Driving on the M6 in ANY car is no fun in my experience. If we travel north from Somerset, we inevitably have to do a stretch on the M5 to get over the Severn and to avoid Bristol. We have concluded that screens on and even roof up is more comfortable, mainly to cut down on wind and tyre noise. Incidentally, a few years back, we came up behind a cattle lorry on the M5, when one of the occupants decided it was time to relieve herself. As it issued from just below the back door and briskly got carried by the wind, our windscreen very quickly turned brown…so much so, we had to pull onto the hard shoulder, as vision was virtually obliterated!

If we travel north from Somerset, we inevitably have to do a stretch on the M5 to get over the Severn and to avoid Bristol. Returned to South Notts last Thursday after visiting friends near Wells. There is a back roads route round Bath (find the Racecourse on a map and you will easily work it out). Travelling North, it meets the A46 near Dyrham Park NT just before crossing the M4. A few miles north of there, a right turn puts you on the Fosse Way near Badminton. We use this route every time we go to that part of Somerset. If you live near Taunton then this won't help you much!

![[Linked Image]](https://www.tm-img.com/images/2022/08/20/DSC_0717.jpg) One casualty from this mornings spirited drive. The other was my radios remote control that I forgot was on the "dashboard". Managed to retrieve it and the batteries but wouldn't work. Change of batteries and its fixed it, phew!

Let's hope not image. It's definitely not making the trip if it was.

Leroy, I'd count that as a lucky escape, last time I hit a pheasant in Mrs M's tintop it cost me £100's for the lamp unit and a full front end bodywork stripdown to fit the f** thing

A lovely run over Dartmoor for lunch at Princetown with my good lady. Alpacca's being led, Shires being ridden and loads of different breeds of cattle seen and a lovely walk along the river at Newbridge and these two Colts near Dartmeet. ![[Linked Image]](https://tm-img.com/images/2022/08/20/col.jpg) ![[Linked Image]](https://tm-img.com/images/2022/08/20/colt.jpg)
