Looks like the basis for a good winter project for someone with a rattly 1600.

I wonder if the sump survived as it 'fell off the back' of that lorry? innocent

Pal of mine in S. Glos is in the process of replacing his tweaked CVH with a 2 litre Zetec.

Cheers,

I've done it! I installed a 1998 Escort ZX2 motor in my 1961 4/4. This is the 130 hp, 2.0 litre engine available in the US. I'm using twin DCOE40's, large tube exhause header, T9 gearbox fitted with Quaife CR gears, and a 4.1 rear axle. Also a larger radiator was fabricated in the style of the SS racers . . . extra long and angled forward at the bottom. This is a very doable project, but it requires a fair amount of fabrication, design and welding. I've got photos of the project if someone is interested.

I'd be happy to send you a pdf file documenting the highlights of the project. Send me your email address via a private message and I'll attach it to an email. I've seen others post large photos on this site, but I can't figure out how they've done it. The message preview shows the link and not the photo.

Looks like I figured out how to get a couple of photos inserted. This is the finished product, but I can send you the pdf containing the highlights of the project via email if you wish.
