Has anyone had their Plus Four auto or Plus Six towed? Looking in my manual, it states it should not be towed due to damage to the auto transmission. It must be transported on a low-loader, but it would have to be towed onto that vehicle. If it has to be towed, it must be towed with only the front wheels on the ground. Alternatively, the transmission could be disabled with the tools supplied by with the car, but it is possible that the hole under the car used to fit that tool may not be present. Eg , Morgan may have forgotten to make it! Any comments or experiences chaps?

General understanding - not on this car - is that you should not rotate the wheels any distance without the engine running. A short distance onto a low loader should be possible but towing with driven wheels on the road would be damaging. This is true for all autos in my experience. Ditto 4WD cars. When I took the RS6 they made a very clear warning about recovery through Audi by flatbed only.

I understand there is a dis-connect pin in the box that is very difficult reach, but have some distant memory that once pushed to enable freewheel it is a swine to recover. It would be part of the box so Morgan would not "drill it". Given how low the car is access would be fun.

I have seen cars towed with two wheels in "dollies" which are like small caster assemblies.
I have also seen cars dragged with the rear wheels up and front wheels on the ground, uncertain of the safety of this even with a steering lock.

I am not a trained engineer so this is all fully amateur content.

Everyone loves a Morgan. Even me, unless it's broken again.

On a more generic note. Much depends upon the gearbox internals, even the Trad +8 should not be towed as the gearbox is lublicated by the rotation of it`s input shaft which in a towing situation is not turning thus the gearbox internals would not be receiving the normal supply of lubricant with only the output shaft turning..

Even the recovery of HGV`s can involve removal of driveshafts to inhibit inputs to gearboxes during towing.
