Trying to get my wheels off and they're not playing. Haven't been off for a while so they're stuck on tightly. This spanner is prone to slipping off the nut, and simply won't budge it at the moment. Try using a blowlamp to gently apply a bit of heat just to the centre nut. Also try the standard spanner and a dead blow hammer if you have one. With the wheels on the ground.

Success. Thanks Dave. I used boiling water from a kettle to heat the nut, and the standard, unopened and still in its wrapping, spanner and mallet to slowly get it off. Took quite a lot of bashing which was very close to the rims so I taped those up with electrical tape just in case. Mrs FT operated the front brakes. Think I'll give the threads a good clean and a re-grease before reassembling. I've not been greasing the kingpins as enthusiastically as I used to after suffering grease on the discs so haven't been taking the wheels off regularly. I would be very surprised if a dead blow hammer wont get them going. One hand over the nut, holding the spanner in place and a few sharp taps with the hammer. Easy to forget that the off side is a left hand thread but sure you are well aware of that.

Got it sorted thanks (see above) but it wasn't a few sharp taps - more like a flurry of blows for a sustained period of time! (after heating first). Used to come of easily with my long-handled spanner.

I used exhaust U bolts to bolt that Mulfab tool to a roof rack . Works a treat if all else fails. A hot air gun - paint stripper thingy, is good for heating seized spinners, less risky than a open flame blowtorch
