Had a good clean around here yesterday. Amazing how much grease gets so close to the discs. I've backed right off greasing the kingpins now (probably every 3k) but there's stilll plenty of grease.

I‘ve got a homemade gaiter, made of a piece of rubber (inner tube of an bicycle or motorcycle). That protects the lower kingpins.

And: also it‘s real a point to don‘t overgrease.

Nice idea. I'll give that a go.

Velcro straps from amazon to stop the frame rattling and stop the side flap, from flapping around. £8.99 for a boat load of different lengths.

Good solution. I installed a male Tenax fastener to the frame (under where yours is visible) on both sides of the car (I understand this is now a standard fitment on current production cars). I was amazed to find that that part of the hood frame seems to be made from very lightweight wooden strip, so I hope it doesn't just pull out in use. It did stop that particular rattle though, and makes a neat job of the otherwise flappy bit of the folded hood.

But I would be more bugged by the missing toggle switch which destroys symmetry. (Even if it wasn’t connected to anything in particular.)

I religiously grease every 500 miles and have never suffered that problem. I always wipe off excess immediately after greasing.
So, if you are suffering this problem, I question whether you might have remote greasing or, maybe the king pins are starting to wear and letting more grease pass by the bushes?

I gifted Oliver, my 4/4 80th, with a custom made gear knob! The craftsman, and truly he is, specialises in urns, bowls, art made from speciality wood and embedded metal inlays who I discovered via an appearance on a car related TV show.

Long story short, I reached out and asked if he could make me a gear knob in a matte finish and if possible, brass to match my dash. Photos of my car was sent and he recommended the lighter wood insert on top to tie into the cream faced dials and added a brass inlay around that to tie into the gages. I am beyond pleased with the result.
