Good evening

As I'm bedridden and a tad bored I thought I'd put together a toolkit/spares kit for the car. I have been looking at previous posts and can see there are essentially two types of relay but no one appears to give a definitive part number for either (certainly not one that can be successfully searched).

Can somebody please shed some light on the two part numbers so I can order some?

The relays and their pin outs are generic. As spares best to have diode protected 12 volt 40 amp 5 pin relays. Not all applications use the 5th pin which allows changeover contacts but will replace a make/break relay whether it has 4 or 5 pins. Important they have diode protection (quenching) to avoid damage to any associated electronics.

They sometimes come with a redundant plastic or metal bulkhead mount which can be removed since they are supported by the socket they plug into.

Otherwise any good auto spares outlet in France should stock them. Just show them above pic.

Halfords sell them . You need to compare the diagram on the relay to the photos on their website.

MSCC members can print a 10% discount voucher. I note you are in France so I guess other websites could help.
If you 2011 car is like my 2014 one then the ac relay is not used and can act as a spare. Not the case if you have aircon.

And if ever wiring one from scratch, it is essential that a diode relay is wired the right way round, otherwise it’s goodbye relay and associated circuit fuse.
It might help by remembering that “86 is a bit more positive than 85”, so 86 gets the + connection.

They are integral to the relay now Doug as per schematic on relay housing.

Yes, realise that Richard. Replacing an existing relay is foolproof.
However, I was referring to when a new relay and base are added to drive some additional item.
