Today Richard V6 kindly lent me the use of his ramp to grease the front UJs. Unlike Richard's car the wooden boards on my car are so close together you can't get a grease gun in.
I was wondering about cutting a hole but the handbrake cable & wires could be in the way.
Has anyone found a way to do this either via the gerabox tunnel, prop shaft cover or the boards.

I did mine a few years ago when I had the seats out and transmission tunnel off to cover it in carpet. Prior to that it was done in 2003 and 2011, both occasions when I had the tunnel off. If I ever have cause to remove the tunnel again I'll do it, but I won't make a special effort.

Well it obviously has never been done on service at a Mog dealer so at 29k miles I'd like to treat the UJ

On the front end I only have 1 to grease. Last time I had the tunnel off I cut a hole if the metal and put a plastic cap on it, so I can grease it from there in the future.
I think cutting a hole in the floor would let more water in on a rainy day.
Or possibly let more water out!

Do you have any gap? On my Plus 4 the gap is just wide enough at the back for me to prise in the nozzle of the grease gun, then I can slide it to the front to fit it on the UJ. It's a really fiddly pain, using a headtorch and lots of patience.

Mine has a couple of rebates in the boards that allow access to the UJ from underneath .... because this just leaves a smallish aperture it's all still under the transmission tunnel and won't let water into the interior floor.

It sounds like mine is similar K. The inner edge of seat boards are shaped to give nearly an inch gap at the forward end dropping to less than ½ inch at the back. This appears to be a positive effort by MMC to allow greasing access and doesn't affect water intrusion as the gap is sealed by the transmission tunnel above.
Although a steel cross member is immediately below the front UJ, a gun can just be angled in from behind through the wider board gap to reach front UJ and sliding joint grease nipples.
In John's case I agree the only option is to gain access from above after removing transmission tunnel. Interested to know how much sealant is used though.
