Hi all

So all these images are rendered by AI by simply adding a string of words into the system.

I enjoy art & design and all sorts of engineering in general immensely, from oils on canvas to marble sculptures. From Cathedrals, churches and ornate Mosques to cartoons and old engines and cars. I also very much like the digital art work we see a lot of these days with some truly incredible stuff being produced in hyper realism etc.

Unfortunately, although I can knock a strap up and bash some metal together quite well, my actual pencil on paper artwork is utter dog poo. If you saw how I draw a horse or dog for example you would wet your pants !! Thankfully, for people like me that cant draw for toffee there are new ways of creating art.

My daughter recently put me on to MIDJOURNEY. This is an AI based platform that renders images from a string of words that you tell it !! You can write anything and the AI will formulate what it thinks you're after. As well as the basic command, or prompt as they call it, you can add further details such as HD, vintage, style of etc etc. You can also set the desired ratio.

What you end up with is something completely unique and yours ! Even putting the exact same string of prompts in a second time will bring up differing images. I suppose traditional artists will say its cheating but I don’t think anyone such as myself will ever claim that they’re 'an artist' by doing this. Literally anyone can do it. It does however give people the chance to make completely new and unique imagery. Ive splashed some around my own website. I’ve noticed too that like more traditional art, people seem to be developing a style in their work with strings of prompts in certain order etc. Its all very clever.

Midjourney runs through Discord. Set up an account and have fun. Be warned though, its addictive !

If anyone wants to have a go let me know and I can email you a simple cheat sheet.

I tried to get onto Dalle but it wouldn't send me the confirmation email !? Will give it another go

Another piece of AI generated art .... seems to me the genre is like a visual application of the Mellotron/Moog/Sampler thing that's been going on in the music scene since the '70s .... computer advances mean that Artists can use AI to 'mash-up' visual elements (in this case a pic of a cathedral and textures from draped cloth) .... skillfully used it can create some interesting (and some disturbing) images. Will be interesting to see where it goes and how it ends up relating to us Humans on a visceral level when compared to some complicated 'meatsack' with a brush in it's hand and the zeitgeist in it's head 😁

I only used the phrase "A Schnauzer puppy with a red collar relaxing on a red rug in a conservatory with white walls, digital art" to generate them
