Evening all.

After a drive in torrential rain on Tuesday, I cleaned the car on return home. Obviously!
Only issue is cleaning the rims the far side of the spokes.
How do other owners do this? Remove wheels (I hope not!), a wheel cleaning agent or thin cleaning brushes and lots of elbow grease?
I have seen the posts about spoke cleaning and use spoke cleaning laces for Motorbikes.
Less concerned about this and more about cleaning ‘the far side’!!

Cheers,

Andy

+1 - works well. Won a kit in a raffle. The cleaner liquid within probably contains a fair amount of phosphoric acid.

Thanks for the advice. I would imagine that any cleaning fluid would contain a minor amount of acidic agent but presume as long as useable guidelines are followed, no degradation is evident after use?

With determination you can lift each end of the Morgan and clean the insides. I use WD40 and quick detailer, plus a microfibre cloth. The front is easy because you can turn to full lock, and grease the suspension at the same time.

The rears take more dexterity, but I can even do the brake droms from behind. Just get your cleaning rag in place then turn the wheel slowly with the other hand.

With the car jacked up it is not difficult to access the inner rims with a rag. Wear old cloths. Biker’s cleaning brushes are quite useful. For a thorough job, get the wheels off and tidy up round the wheel arches while you are at it.

On the Morgan I do the same as Dave DW. Onoccaisions I use dometic stainless steel hob clener for a "deep clean around spoke nuts etc."

I use one of these on my two Mercs both with Black gloss diamond cut wheels.

They can be bought Amazon, Ebay etc. The Micro fibre sleeve is easily removable/washable.

Use bucket of water and this tool. Once soaked, the micro fibre tool cleans off all the inner rim dust etc (even behind calipers). Once cleaned its important the wheel inner is spray washed to take away dirty water etc..

Clearly the "big" difference " is how often you do it. If you do it often enough just a dry wipe over with this brush cleans the inner rims to a shine with no need to spray.

I am a "clean shoes, clean wheels anaorak". Even when I clean the car I do wheels first.

I dont use any chemicals other than the S/S cleaner for the Morgan

Thanks all for the excellent advice and quality solutions! I may remove the wheels and do it properly, just got to figure out how to get to the jacking points!

I fell in love with the polished stainless steel wheels always knowing cleaning would be challenging!
