Friends, thanks for all the good advices and research !
At this moment we’re traveling (not with the M3W’s) but as soon back I will renew my search and will start with the speed sensor.
But the strange thing is that when the engine is not really hot (+/- the first 5 kilometers) idle is normal.
And when hot the high idle is intermittent and sometimes just normal (but much more times high as normal).

It looks to me like the sensor screws are 5/32 unf 32 threads per inch.

I had this hanging idle problem after I fitted an unlocked G56 supplied ECU with their map installed. I checked the wheel speed sensor as it held almost 2000rpm for a few seconds after coming to a halt, checked the idle Air Control Valve function, all to no avail. I only fixed it by installing a new base map from Krazy Horse and then it all worked perfectly. The idle is certainly linked to the wheel speed sensor.

My error by the screws are in metric 4mm 0.70mm and 12mm in length.

The idle is certainly linked to the wheel speed sensor.
I wonder why? Certainly odd to me. Idle issues with the road speed sensor are normally associated with stalling when the vehicle is coming to a stop. The road speed sensor tells the ECU that the vehicle is slowing with the ECU adjusting the revs, fuel flow accordingly, if the ECU does not receive the proper signal then there is a lag in adjustment when coming to a halt thus causing the stall. The most common issue with the road speed sensor is a poor earth connection which can cause intermittent signal.

I had a connection issue with the speed sensor a few years ago.
It presented with the speedo needle sweeping between random speeds every few seconds.

Today I swapped the speed sensors from both cars without any result. Still the high idle when hot and as long the car is rolling. When coming to a stop idle is back to normal after a few seconds.
To be 100% sure it isn't the ECU I swapped them for the second time. Again no result.
Asked M3W Service France for advice and they came up with the suggestion to swap the throttle bodies from both cars.
Keep your fingers crossed that this will do the job. Will keep you updated.
