Not aurora, but some might like to have a look for meteors

LEONID METEOR SHOWER ALERT: Earth is approaching the orbit of Comet 55P/Tempel-Tuttle, source of the annual Leonid meteor shower. This is not a good year for Leonids. The shower's nominal peak on Nov. 17th is expected to produce no more than 15 meteors per hour. But! There is a chance of a surprise, some forecasters believe that Earth might graze a 300-year-old stream of debris on Nov. 19th, producing an outburst of 50 to 200 meteors per hour?

GEOMAGNETIC STORM WATCH: NOAA forecasters say there is a chance of G1-Cllass geomagnetic storms on Nov. 20th when a high-speed stream of solar wind is expected to hit Earth. The gaseous material is flowing from a large Southern hole in the sun's atmosphere. Arctic sky watchers should be alert for auroras.

Graham .... sadly we're in an unremitting patch of foul weather here .... seeing across the field is about as far as it goes .... always good to know what's going on up above the clouds though

Sorry to read of your weather Keith. Clear blue sky here, so might catch a glimpse of the ISS as it flies over, but it will be a cold night

Strong activity tonight. Worth having a look if you're in a dark sky area.

Nice pic Gordon! .... sadly we were at the gym and pool and missed it .... there was supposed to be another good burst after midnight ... sat up to watch but nothing came of it .... we're heading up towards the sunspot maximum in a few years so hopefully there will be plenty more.

Ps ....was a wonderfully clear and dark night though and the stars were outstanding ... was great seeing the milky way really prominent across the sky ... and there's a good few planets obviously about at the moment .... highlight was a really strong shooting star that ended in a big bright flash somewhere out North East of here

I should think there is a strong possibility of visual aurora at northern latitudes.

THE LAST AURORAS OF 2022? The year could end with an Arctic light show? NOAA forecasters say there is a chance of G1-Class geomagnetic storms on Dec. 30-31 when a co-rotating interaction region (CIR) is expected to hit Earth's magnetic field. CIRs are transition zones between fast- and slow-moving solar wind streams. They often contain shock waves that do a good job sparking auroras.
