Crackdown on boy racers and supercar drivers revving engines between Wilmslow and Alderley Edge
A noise-activated camera will be introduced before the end of the month.
Drivers who rev their engines and cause other noise nuisance could face fines as part of a crackdown on boy racers and supercars in Cheshire.
A noise-activated camera is set to be introduced at a roundabout on the A34 Pendleton Way, between Wilmslow and Alderley Edge , later this month. The scheme is being trialled following complaints about noisy anti-social motorists on the busy bypass.

It will be interesting to see how that works out. Picking out the one car making a lot of noise from the others also making some noise will be a challenge.
I can see the idiots trying to "game" the system...
Or are they just aiming to get modified, noisy cars checked by an MOT station, to annoy the owners?

M3W owners had better look out as well.... Some after market exhausts on them are very "sporty" and have trouble passing track day noise checks.

Aero's with sidepipes had definitely be careful.
The S2 with the single pipe has failed a drive by test at a track and I was told not to bother trying with the Coupe.
Everyone loves a Morgan. Even me, unless it's broken again.

Noisy, faulty or non standard exhaust £50 fine that'll stop them. Very hard to prove as you need to know exact distance from the exhaust plus the revs and the ambient noise. Not possible to measure M/C exhaust due to the engine noise.

We already have some permanently installed microphones combined with speed testing in the Eifel. It is simply a display at the roadside. First it says "too fast" and then it says "too loud". At least with my 4/4. In other words, everything is technically prepared. Now they just have to connect it to a camera and the ticket comes home.

On Radio 4 just now the company providing them said they picked up those noisy exhausts that pop & bang. Surely they look for a dBA number.
Pops & bangs if quiet enough aren't illegal
