Just out of the trailer and into the woodshed 🙁.... my trip Down South for my new hood has been postponed as the hood-guru is off work unwell ... hope he gets better soon .... though their crowded work calendar will take some re-jigging I suspect .... to cap it off it's a really foul-weather day here today so I won't even be out for a consolation spin!

Glorious sunny weather here so Belle & I will proceed to the seafront for my constitutional & home via Esso for E5 sans ethanol.

Glorious sunny weather here so Belle & I will proceed to the seafront for my constitutional & home via Esso for E5 sans ethanol. John, Do you see any real difference using the E5 compared to the E10, we have been going backwards and forwards over most of the summer between UK. NI and Ireland covering many 1000's of miles in that time and switching between E5 and E10 not from choice just what is available, in the wife's Merc cabriolet. At some point we have had completely full tanks of E5 or E10 and often a mix of both and I've found very little difference in MPG and performance via a very accurate MPG display. I at one point filled up in Ireland with E5 plus for claimed better MPG and it didn't improve MPG but it dropped for the same motorway driving at constant speed using the speed limiter. Whilst I might be slightly conditioned by all I've read about E10, I thought the Merc was slightly sweeter running on the E10 and car is a Euro 4. I appreciate the situation might be different in a Morgan, in my case, by my change in driving style, but I've detected very little change from using E10 in the Roadster which is Euro 4. What has been others experience to date?

I see slightly better mpg with E10 especially Esso. What I do is use E10 one in two or four fills. Not so much on the basis of ethanol free but on advice the ADAC published in the 80s when I lived in Germany that varying fuel addtives (so super & normal) & suppliers improved mpg.
I'm probably kidding myself but it is my hobby. The VWs run on E10

Nice little 70 mile run out to Oyne to drop off some racing trophies ready to be engraved for this year's recipients (mid-season mangling of my racecar means no trophies for me this year!! 😳) ..... bright but quite chilly day, so an obligatory stop at the Bacon Butty Bus in a layby near Pitcaple on the way back. Something about my phone camera that always makes the car look 'tomato-ey' ... it's a richer red in real life. ![[Linked Image]](https://www.tm-img.com/images/2022/10/16/20221016_144559.jpg) K

It's been a lovely day here in the New Forest for an outing in the Roadster. Someone who's a better photographer than me will advise how I can avoid getting that "flare" from the sun on my rear bumper.... ![[Linked Image]](https://www.tm-img.com/images/2022/10/17/New-Forest-17-10-22.jpg)

Yesterday, I took my 21-year-old son out for a sunset spin of about an hour or so. The weather here has eased a bit, from "broil" to a mere poaching. It was also the first time he'd really relaxed in the car. I think he finally understands the Zen of a peaceful drive through the countryside in an open car. It was nice to see the moment settle over him.

Had a great drive across country to Gislingham to take my bass in for a set-up. Back home a different route made it 50 miles. Then out for another 50 miles with Mrs FT in glorious sunshine this afternoon. We are so lucky!

A jaunt down to Portsmouth Historic Dockyard today. A fairly boring but uneventful motorway blast (A417/M4/A34/M3/M27), but great to meet up with some old pals. If anyone hasn't been recently, the Mary Rose exhibition is genuinely stunning these days. When I last went 25 years or so ago it was little more than a load of damp wood in a shed being constantly sprayed with water or something and bugger all else. Now it's an amazing presentation with integrated videos and all the recovered artefacts cleverly presented so you get a real feel for what it would have been like. Queen Elizabeth the aircraft carrier was in town, completely dwarfing the little HMS M.33 gun monitor from the Gallipoli campaign. Certainly imposing, but you wouldn't say it's the most beautiful ship ever built. I guess the odd angles of the superstructure are all about deflecting radar? ![[Linked Image]](https://www.tm-img.com/images/2022/10/18/IMG_1605.jpg)
