As I'll be jumping what is a lawn mower battery I don't think I'll have a problem with the smaller wire size. We'll see :-)

My son is going to take the car out tomorrow to see how quickly the battery charge drops.

FYI my experience with these Lithium packs has been mixed. The 1st (claimed to handle a 2l diesel startup) didnt have the oomph to start the M3W. The largest pack I could find at the time on Amazon had the oomph but the clampon was faulty (it worked with the 1st pack's clampon luckily). Interestingly it had enough Lithium content to require special courier service (both on delivery, and return when I sent it back due to the faulty clamp)...

You have to take into account that the M3W starter motor has bigger pots to turn over than those on the largest V10 Viper variant, a mere 832cc.

In the meantime I've rethought my plan to use the float charger wires with the jump start pack. I've found something else that'll let me connect the jump pack to the battery with the correct size wire. I've had troubles posting pictures so here's the URL of what I'm getting from Amazon. I'll put it on the grill unless I can find a better mounting place. I've got a big jump pack and one of the small ones too.

Just a FYI We went to a car show yesterday about 20 miles away and the battery still showed 12 volts coming home with the lights on. So we think that keeping it on the float charger to keep the battery charged up will work in the meantime. But we'll keep both jump start packs in the boot.

That will work fine Dutch. Assume this is just a temporary measure until charge system is sorted though.

BTW exactly 12 volts measured on a battery with engine off equates to one that is holding less than half its full capacity.

I am not sure you got this fixed yet, but older golwings had problems with the connector from the stator to the regulator. It would get corroded which would eventually cause it to burn up the connector. A REALLY east fix. I have also had to replace a stator in my GL1200.... not so easy, but I did it so no labor cost.
