It certainly was an excellent race. The standout for me is just how tough Alonso's Alpine turned out to be after taking off, landing and hitting the barrier he somehow managed to finish the race in 7th! Shocking driving by Stroll, however which could have caused more than one fatality.

Sorry, typo, obviously not 7th for Alonso - 15th but finishing at all was mightily impressive.

I enjoyed it more than I expected. I have not been a fan of that track when the overtaking was less practical due to aero. There were some very brave overtaking moments which were impressive.

Max coming back through the pack to win after that awful pit stop must have been amazing in the teams garage. I doubt even one of them was breathing!

Also nice given the bad news around Dieter Mateschitz. When Martin Brundle first hinted at it in the pre-race interviews you could see the alarm and sorrow on his face. It also showed a nice side of Christian Horner, sometimes I find him a little bullish but he was very human on Sunday.

When Alonso lifted his nose and it stayed up I had horrible visions of how the MB's flipped at LeMans in 99. Thank god that did not occur.

A great pity for LeClerc as he was really trying, not his season but he does not give up.

Lots of great racing. I hope we get more like that!

It would have been nice to see Lewis pull it out. He got close. But who can stop Max this year?

Lots of excitement and challenging going on, a great track and administration unlike the Japanese one.

Good news.

An appeal by Alpine has allowed them to be put back into 7th place.
Not often an appeal would get you more than an extended fine in the old pravda days!

Hmmm. A good showing by Mercedes today. Hoping for more of the same tomorrow. If today is any indication there should be some good racing
