Went to Goodwood in Monty for the V-Power Breakfast Club on Sunday, and boy the rain came down.

IT WAS TRULY BIBLICAL!

I felt like a pioneer motorists until I spotted the nutter who'd travelled there in a Morgan three wheeler, I went from hero to whimp in two seconds flat getcoat

I was that “nutter”, wearing the right clothing is the key, 120 miles round trip and I was perfectly dry the inside of the car was another matter but did dry out overnight. I noticed as soon as the rain stopped most people left, when I went back to the car at 11.45 It was all on its own.

Rog ... would you care to share your clothing choices (ermm!, you can skip the undergarments to spare our blushes 🙂) ... as Covid absence and our logistics mean that we won't have a hood for the 4/4 until March, but still want to run about over winter, then suitable clothing will be a must ... I considered modern motorcycle gear but the stuff I liked came with loads of armour which would probably be a bit uncomfy in a car and which (hopefully) I wouldn't need. Any tips would be very useful.

Not today but on Sunday did a cruise to Paihia from Kerikeri with Adrian (Plus 8) and Marty (Aero 8) to the Bay of Islands Coffee and Classics meet. Good turn out with some very nice and varied classics.
We had brunch at the local cafe/bar and then an exhilarating drive back to Kerikeri with very little traffic. Did have a couple of tin tops get in the convoy of three at one roundabout but an overtaking lane soon sorted them out.
Great first outing with the lads. Thank you Adrian.

I have two levels of wet weather gear:

Intermediate - Motorcycle jacket, with the armour removed, this can be done on most modern jackets. If cold a heated jacket underneath. High wasted lightweight waterproof trousers.

Full wet - When it is monsoon like I have found water still seeps in around the cuff and neck of a motorcycle jacket which is OK for a hour or so but not for longer, so I have a modified sailing dry suit which is 100% waterproof. I modified it by removing the feet, adding a waterproof "comfort" zip and adding an electrical feedthrough so I can wear a heated jacket underneath. Have used this on a 200 mile 5 hour motorway trip and arrived totally dry.

Full wet on left, intermediate style on right below.

Many thanks .... the dry-suit looks good for any conditions!. My guess is that in a 4/4 with the screen and sidescreens up your intermediate outfit would probably do for just about all occasions.
